Chilli Chapati Recipe | Leftover Chapathi recipe

Chilli Chapati Recipe | Leftover Chapathi recipe with step by step pictures and instructions. Chilli chapati is a modified version of chilli parotta made with leftover chapati. You can make this as evening snacks, or for dinner, or breakfast. In restaurants, they deep fry the chapati, but I have added them directly.

You can deep fry or shallow fry the chapati. Toss the chapati in high flame with sauces for delicious chapati chilli. Serve it with simple raita or any gravy. I will have them as such without any side dish. You can also make Chapati noodles, egg kothu chapati, or chapati pizza with leftover chapati.

You can make Rice cutlet, or rice pakoda with leftover rice and chilli idli, or idli fry with leftover idli and Upma uttapam with leftover upma. Let’s check out to make this spicy and delicious chapati chilli.

Ingredients

  • Chapati 2
  • Onion 1
  • Capsicum 1/2
  • Green chilli 2
  • Garlic 2 big
  • Tomato 1 small
  • Salt as required
  • Red chilli powder 3/4 tsp
  • Soya sauce 1 tsp optional
  • Garam masala 1/4 tsp optional
  • Coriander leaves to garnish
  • Oil 1 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Shred the chapati into pieces and keep it ready
  2. Heat oil and add finely chopped garlic and green chillies.
  3. Once it browns add the cubed onions and saute in high flame for 1 minute.
  4. Then add the chopped tomatoes and saute till mushy.
  5. Now add chopped capsicum and saute.
  6. Then add red chilli powder, salt, soya sauce and mix. Add little water and saute for 2-3 minutes
  7. Finally, add the cut chapati pieces and saute in high flame till everything combined. Check out seasoning and add as required.
  8. Garnish with coriander leaves and switch off the flame.
  9. Chilli chapati is ready. Serve it with raita or tomato sauce.

Notes

Can replace tomato with 1/2-1 tbsp tomato sauce.

You can fry the chapati pieces in oil and use too.

Adjust the sauces and spices according to your preference.

  • Very interesting way to use the leftover chapatis. I like the way you have cut them in squares and the idea of soya sauce sounds wonderful. Will try these for sure.
  • This is really a tasteful method of consuming leftover chapatis. I do make chapati pakoras, but this Indo Chinese chili chapati will be surely loved by all at home.
  • Absolutely the best use for left over chapathi and in fact to make this, I will be making excess chapathi next time. SO delicious and loved by eveyone at home.
  • I always end up freezhing left over chapathis and then heating it up later, but maybe next time, I have to try making this as snack. Surely will be a hit with the girls...
