Tamarind dates chutney is sweet and tangy chutney made with tamarind, dates, and jaggery. Sweet chutney is used in preparing various chat items like sev puri, Pani puri, bhel puri, and so on. Also, it can be used as dips for starters or in sandwiches too.

Tamarind Dates Chutney recipe | Sweet Chutney | Imli Chutney
Ingredients
- Dates ½ cup tightly packed
- Tamarind ¼ cup tightly packed
- Jaggery ½ cup
- Salt as required
- Red chili powder 1.5 tsp
- Cumin Powder ¾ tsp
- Dry ginger powder ½ tsp
- Water 2 cups or as required
Instructions
- Finely chop the dates and jaggery.
- Soak tamarind in hot water for 5 minutes.
- Then add water and extract the tamarind paste and filter it.
- Now the tamarind extract is ready.
- Take the tamarind extract in Kadai.
- Add chopped dates to it.
- Then add grated jaggery to it.
- Then add salt, red chili powder, cumin powder, dry ginger powder, and allow it to boil.
- Mash the dates and allow the jaggery to melt completely.
- Allow the mixture to boil for 10-15 minutes.
- Switch off the flame and allow it to cool down.
- Take the cooled mixture in the mixer.
- Grind to smooth paste.
- Tamarind dates chutney is ready.
- Store in an air-tight container in the fridge and use them as required in chaats, or dips for samosas, or spread for sandwiches.
