Pottukadalai Ladoo
Roasted gram dal is also called as Pottukadalai in tamil. It is popularly known as Maa ladoo. These melt in mouth ladoo is so easy and quick to make. I love to prepare these simple ladoo where no consistency is required as well as very simple for beginners.
It requires only 3 main ingredients roasted gram dal, sugar and ghee. We add cardamom powder for flavor and adding nuts is optional. Don't forget to try this quick ladoo for Diwali. It takes less than 20 minutes to prepare this delicious sweet.
Ingredients
- Roasted gram dal/pottukadalai
- Sugar
- Ghee
- Cashews
- Cardamom powder

Instructions
Take roasted gram dal and sugar in mixer.
Grind to fine powder.
Transfer to big bowl and add cardamom powder to it.
Heat ghee in a pan and add cashews to it.
Fry them till golden and add to gram dal and sugar mixture.
Mix it nicely so it holds shape.
Shape them as small round balls. You can add more ghee if you are not able to shape them.
Maa Ladoo is ready.

Top Tips
- If you want very fine ladoo, you can powder the roasted gram dal and sugar separately and sieve them.
- I used mix of both brown and white sugar and used total of ¾ cup. If you are using only white sugar can reduce 1-2 tbsp.
- It totally depends on your preference of sweetness.
- Use more ghee if you are not able to shape them.
- Adding nuts is optional.
- You can grind 2-3 pods of cardamom while grinding if you don't have cardamom powder.

- Cashews 8-10
- Cardamom powder 1 tsp
Instructions
- Take roasted gram dal and sugar in mixer.
- Grind to fine powder.

- Heat ghee in a pan and add cashews to it.
- Fry them till golden and add to gram dal and sugar mixture.
- Mix it nicely so it holds shape.
