Ashoka Halwa Recipe | Pasi Paruppu halwa recipe with step-by-step pictures and instructions. Ashoka halwa is melt in mouth halwa made with moong dal, sugar, and ghee. It is a very popular sweet from the Thiruvaiyaru region in Thanjavur district in Tamilnadu.
It is served at most weddings. It is different in taste and texture from the Moong dal halwa made in the North. Always use a generous amount of ghee for sweets. I love making traditional sweets and wanted to try okkarai ever since I saw the recipe from my friend Priya's blog. I will keep adding so many to that list so we will stop and let us check out this recipe.
