    Chicken Kola Urundai Recipe | Chicken keema balls | How to make Chicken Kola Urundai recipe with step by step pictures and instructions. Chicken Kola Urundai is spicy deep fried balls made with minced chicken and spices. It is specialty of chettinad cuisine where they use mutton to make balls. Vegetarians can try with soya, paneer, raw banana or any other vegetables.

    This recipe is so simple to make and you can prepare it ahead and fry them while serving. I generally don't get minced chicken but will mince them in mixer. We can use the kola urundai to make curry too. Will share the recipe soon. Now let's check out how to make simple and delicious chicken keema balls

    Chicken Kola Urundai Recipe | Chicken keema balls | How to make Chicken Kola Urundai

    Chicken Kola Urundai is spicy deep fried balls made with minced chicken and spices.
    Prep Time 15 minutes minutes
    Cook Time 15 minutes minutes
    Total Time 30 minutes minutes
    Servings 15 -18 balls

    Ingredients

    • Chicken boneless 250 grams
    • onion 1 small
    • Cumin 1 tsp
    • Fennel seeds 1 tsp
    • Pepper 1 tsp
    • Grated coconut 2 tbsp
    • Fried gram dal 1 tbsp
    • Salt as required
    • Red chilli powder ½ tsp
    • Garam Masala ½ tsp
    • Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp
    • Turmeric powder ¼ tsp
    • Coriander leaves 2 tbsp

    Instructions

    • Wash and cut the chicken into pieces.
    • Take the chicken pieces in mixer.
    • Mince them and transfer to bowl.
    • Take onions, green chilli, grated coconut, fried gram dal, fennel, cumin, pepper in a mixer.
    • Grind them to smooth paste adding few drops of water.
    • Add the paste to minced chicken.
    • Then add ginger garlic paste, salt, red chilli powder, garam masala, turmeric powder and finely chopped coriander leaves
    • Mix everything together till evenly mixed.
    • Make some balls out of the mixture
    • Heat oil in a kadai and deep fry them till golden.
    • Drain in a kitchen tissue.
    • Chicken kola urundai is ready.

    Notes

    You can skip grinding the chicken if you use chicken keema
    Add coriander leaves while grinding for kids so they don't pick them while eating.
    Increase the green chilli and red chilli powder if you want it spicy. This is less spicy version for kids.
    You can shallow fry in paniyaram pan for healthy version.

    How to make Chicken Kola Urundai with step by step pictures

      We used to make it this way, and mostly with mutton. Kids love it. I stopped making it because of the whole mincing process..:)

      The balls ca n be turned vegetarian - I like that ! Let me try making them with some boiled potatoes , I am sure they would turn out terrific ! I like the spices going into this ball .

        for veg you can use soya chunks, banana stem or banana flower. it will be so good.
