Upma Recipe | Rava Upma | How to make Rava Upma recipe with step by step pictures and instructions. Rava Upma is one the popular breakfast recipes from South India made with Rava/Semolina/Sooji. It is so quick and easy to prepare within 15 minutes. Serve it with coconut chutney/Sambar along with filter coffee for delicious morning breakfast.
There are many variations of making upma like tomato bath, masala bath, kichidi etc. I am sharing here the basic version where rava is dry roasted and cooked with onions and green chilli. Dry roasting the rava ahead saves you some more time. I always buy Naga’s double roasted rava and use it directly.

Notes
I use double roasted rava so skip roasting most of the time.
You can roast the rava and keep it ready to save time
You can add some veggies and small tomato too.
Add some grated ginger for additional flavor and garnish with coriander leaves
We love the consistency of the upma to be soft and smooth. You can reduce the water to 2.5 cups if you want it grainy.
Adding ghee elevates the flavor of the upma so don't skip it.
