One day I had so much leftover semiya upma so tried these and everyone liked it a lot. You can add a lot of veggies to make it more healthy. Let’s check out the recipe now.

Semiya Pakoda is a crispy and delicious snack made with vermicelli and spices.

Ingredients

  • Leftover semiya upma 1 cup
  • Besan flour 2 tbsp
  • Rice flour 1 tbsp
  • Salt 2-3 pinch
  • Red chilli powder 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
  • Cumin Powder 1/4 tsp
  • Curd 1 tbsp optional
  • Curry leaves handful finely chopped
  • Coriander leaves handful finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Take leftover semiya upma in a bowl.
  2. Add flours, chilli powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, and salt to it.
  3. Mix it nicely and add curd.
  4. Bind together the mixture and form a thick dough.
  5. Add finely chopped curry leaves and coriander leaves to it and mix.
  6. Make small balls or shape them as vada
  7. Repeat the same for the rest of the dough.
  8. Heat oil and fry them till golden.
  9. Semiya pakoda is ready. Serve them with sauce or any chutney of your choice.

Notes

You can add some finely chopped onions and vegetables along with it. My kids will pick so I skipped it.

You can add some grated cheese and make cheese balls.

You can shape them as vadai too.

if you don't have leftover semiya, you can cook semiya and use.

Adjust the spices according to your preference

If the mixture is sticky, you can add some flour to adjust consistency or add some curd/water if it is dry.
