Pudalangai Poriyal Recipe | Snake Gourd Poriyal recipe with step-by-step pictures and instructions. Pudalangai poriyal is a simple and quick stir fry made with snake gourd with minimal spices. It is a typical south Indian style poriyal made with coconut and green chili. It is a perfect accomplishment for rice.
This is one of the quick and easy poriyal which gets ready in 15 minutes. We make kootu, poriyal, and chutney with snake gourd. You can use green chili or red chili for spiciness. I love adding lots of coconut. Add salt while adding snake gourd to retain the green color. Let's check out how to make this quick and easy poriyal.

Pudalangai Poriyal Recipe | Snake Gourd Poriyal
Ingredients
- Snake gourd 250 grams
- Onion 1 medium
- Green Chilli 1 big
- Salt as required
- Grated coconut 2 tbsp
- To Temper
- Oil 2 tsp
- Mustard ½ tsp
- Urad Dal ½ tsp
Instructions
- Wash and slice the snake gourd.
- Finely chop the onions and slit green chilli
- Heat oil and temper with mustard, urad dal and curry leaves.
- Once it browns add the finely chopped onions and slit green chilli.
- Saute for 2 minutes and then add chopped snake gourd, salt and saute for few mins
- Add little water, close the lid and allow it to cook.
- Once it is cooked and all water is absorbed, add the grated coconut and give a quick stir.
- Pudalangai Poriyal is ready.
